Ej's Place

The Client
EJ's Place is a North Shore institution. Established in 1997 and once named one of Chicago Magazine's Best New Restaurants, it serves prime aged steaks and chops, pristine seafood and traditional Italian specialties. It's a second-generation Chicago steakhouse from the family behind Gene & Georgetti's, with the warmth of a classic supper club and a loyal crowd of regulars who come back year after year.

The Project
We had the rare opportunity to photograph EJ's Place before opening, while the space was quiet and every detail could be seen on its own. That meant capturing the dining room as guests will first experience it: the set tables, the lighting, the textures and the old-school character that gives the restaurant its personality.
We also went behind the scenes into the kitchen, where so much of EJ's charm actually lives. Those images show the people, the prep and the craft that go into every plate, giving guests a look at the heart of the restaurant they don't normally get to see.

The Outcome
EJ's Place now has a library of professional imagery that tells its full story, from the front of the house to the kitchen, ready for its website, social media, reservations listings and print. The photos capture both the polish of a destination steakhouse and the warmth of a family-run neighborhood spot, giving new guests a reason to book and regulars a reminder of why they keep coming back.
